This Job Pays $100 an Hour in Every State
This Job Pays $100 an Hour in Every State Want to make a hundred bucks an hour, guaranteed? Youâll need a strong stomach. Surgeons have the only job in the U.S. that pays that rate in every single state, according to an analysis of data from the Bureau of Labor Statisticsâ May 2017 Occupational Employment and Wage Estimates. In the U.S., surgeons can make upwards of $250,000 a year. Hereâs a look at which states have the most surgeons: Even among medical practitioners, theyâre an anomaly. Itâs the only profession that has a median hourly salary that exceeds $100 an hour in all 50 states, meaning half the surgeons in every state make at least $208,000 a year (assuming a 40-hour work week). Nationally, 90% of all surgeons made more than $88,360 a year, which is higher than any stateâs median household income as of 2015. And 75% of all surgeons make more than $195,110 a year â" a salary high enough to afford a home in any state. Of course, surgeons arenât the only ones making bank in the medical field. According to the data, anesthesiology is the only profession that offers a higher national average salary than surgery, with 90% of all anesthesiologists in the U.S. making more than $123,580 a year. But broken down state-by-state, even anesthesiologists had salaries that dipped below that $100-an-hour mark in a few states, like Arkansas and Wyoming. A surgeonsâ salary, like any medical profession, typically comes with debt attached to it though. In the 2018 to 2019 school year, the typical medical student is expected to pay about $60k a year in tuition, fees, and health insurance â" roughly the amount theyâll get paid for each of the three to seven years theyâre required to spend as residents right out of medical school. And thereâs a huge bill just to get to that point. This year, an undergraduate four-year program â" a prerequisite for medical school â" will be about $35,830 a year for a private school, $25,670 a year for an out-of-state public school, or $9,980 a year for an in-state public school. Students then have to pass the $315 Medical College Admission Test (per attempt) and finally pay the multiple fees associated with each of the 10-20 applications they put in. All said and done, the median debt for surgeons right out of medical school in 2018 was roughly $192,000, according to the Association of American Medical Colleges, which is about five times the average student debt of $37,172. What are the most profitable jobs in the U.S. right now? Hereâs a breakdown:

How To Write A Resume That Helps You Land Your First Job - Work It Daily
How To Write A Resume That Helps You Land Your First Job - Work It Daily Many people writing a resume for their first job make these mistakes: They try too hard to be clever and stand out by using fancy fonts, colors, clip art or even video resumes. They think volunteer work, summer jobs and school honors or adult-ed courses do not count. They are not clear about their career goals; they apply for everything and expect their resume to get them âany job.â They do not research what employers want. Your resume helps you land your first job by presenting you at your best to recruiters and hiring managers who are looking for someone with your achievements, skills, and education. Related: 10-Minute Transformation: Give Your Resume A Power Punch! Here's what you should be doing: 1. Forget about clever paper, fonts, and presentations. Companies are not impressed by an origami resume. Focus on skills and achievements and you will quickly grab their attention. 2. Recognize and embrace the value of your experiences and education. One of my clients worked the same summer job every year and showed enough skill in that short time to win two promotions. Another client who wanted to become a training manager wrote her thesis on âMentoring in the Workplace.â A future sales person helped sell tickets to a nonprofitâs fundraising event. These are all important achievements. 3. Write your resume for the job you want, not âany job.â Do you prefer to work in a forest or an office? Do you like to travel and meet people, to work in a team or to work at home alone? Did you take courses in biology or art? Apply for the jobs you are prepared for and excite you. 4. Find out what employers want. Read the ads. Talk to people who already work in the job or industry that appeals to you. Read books about your chosen field. When you know what employers want, you can write a resume and cover letter that shows how you meet their needs. This post was originally published at an earlier date. Examples of job titles parents have used include household manager, managerJones family, and family CEO.For most people, though, its best to avoid including parenting as an actual job on the resume.
